Of course, this was planned all along. This mass takeover of the world was always on the cards. As the rained hammered down outside, Lowgold loped off to a crowd that had remained unimpressed - we were kept waiting too long for the real thing. Of course, the audience was made up of a mix between those dead cool twenty-something David Gray / Travis listeners that we're destined to become, and the 'newies' who thought 'Shiver' was their first song and only jumped on board from the radio-friendly 'Yellow'. So much so that for the second time now, I found myself dreading to watch Coldplay's teeniebop fans drool over them, but I decided to accept it that night. Coldplay are mainstream. But hey, how bad is that?

'Spies', the best track on the album, was amazing again as opener. It's a scary, eeriy song that only really kicks in with that amazing bass that was really fucking loud tonight. They followed up with 'Trouble', the single to released the following week, before stomping through all of the album, bar non-songs 'Parachutes' and 'Life is For Living', and played two new songs - 'Animals' and 'In My Place', the final song. Both, particularly the second, sounded fantastic, and I can't wait to hear them again.

Tonight, Coldplay were great. They really shone through to the audience, and Chris was on ever-talky talk mood. While talking to a girl next to me (!!), who cried "we love you", he said "this is a love song, but it's not for you!" beofre playing 'Sparks', dedicated to the band after a fight they had - it was one of those moments. Coldplay were not amazing however - I can't help feeling they've lost something sice I saw them at The Scala in June. They were hungry and ready, but maybe it was because this is the third time I've seen them. Congratulations are in order for playing new stuff though, and I know it'll be amazing. Glastonbury beckons, headlining no doubt, but is it all a bit too sudden? How can they keep the same trick up? It won't be long till Mothers and Fathers around the world love them, and it's a real shame. Still, a good night.
